an entertaining safety hazard...

I am a careful parent. (but not one of those obnoxious safety-freak moms)

I don't let my kids stick things in electrical sockets or give them WHOLE grapes that they might choke on. I don't fill the tub too full or let them run around with scissors in their hands and forks in their mouths.

But today I threw caution to the wind...

I was FULLY aware of what Bianca was up to.

I was making dinner as she took those scratchy, annoying bags out of the drawer one at a time.

The "mom" in me thought "hmm, those bags are a potential choking/suffocating hazard...I should remove her from the situation and childproof that drawer"

But I didn't.

I just let her play in the death trap while I finished dinner.

And she was entertained by those dumb grocery sacks for 30 minutes.

And I made a delicious dinner without a tired one year old attached to my hip.

So worth it...

That's so funny! I think you have to let them do something dangerous once in a while right? She's adorable in that mess!!

Funny that you should blog about this today.

Today while I was cleaning up THE WORST BLOWOUT IN HISTORY, I sat Crew down on the floor in his nursery. I just so happened to have a bunch of trash bags in on of the drawers for taking care of diapers that are EXTRA stinky {and ya know, sometimes the poop gets EVERYWHERE}.

Needless to say, I through a couple of trash bags Crews way and its entertainment for at least a good 20!!!

Every time he plays with one, I have the same internal battle about it being a hazard, but I just makes sure to keep a close eye. Im just reliever to see that I am not the only one.

And I meant to say relieved, not reliever <--whatever that is anyway. HA!

Most kids like to live a little on the 'dangerous' side!! She is too cute don't you think it is time for a trip to UT??

She is so cute! I would have done the same thing. You were close by to notice if anything went wrong. I would have done the same thing.

Jill! i'm glad you found me. . . holly heck. . look at you two kids, and all crafty. . this kills me, that is so funny. You can't be a mom of two. how did that happen?

And come on mom, just let your kids try the electrical socket once.. . it is good for them. gets your heart pumping!

Ya know, I don't know of any kid who has actually suffucated from one of those. It's not like you were letting her sleep with it! Whatever makes a kid happy right?

P.S. I totally know what you mean by the obnoxiously safe parent. I once babysat a kid and their whole house was covered in bubble wrap and styrafoam, including the kitchen chairs. It was hilariously tacky.
