Men and women are different. That's all there is to it. If you haven't figured that out than you are probably not married, and if you are, then your marriage probably won't last much longer. After having been married for THREE whole years (I know, I should be a veteran by now) I still find myself sometimes frustrated with the "man" way of thinking.
Naturally, men are inclined to see a problem, and find a solution. Case closed. Women tend to want to know what their friends think about the problem, what emotions are being involved, and we carefully weigh out all the options...yada yada yada, you know the routine ladies. One way isn't better than the other...just different. And also, men usually take things very literally. Come on, haven't we ALL told our husbands we're "ok" when really we aren't, but think they should know enough to figure it out on their own. I know you are all smirking right now because you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Sorry that was a long introduction for this very short story.
The other day I asked Scotty to put some Cheerios on the tray for Bianca to snack on while I finished dinner. He did, and left the room. no problem. I turned around to check and I saw her tray with half a box of Cheerios on it. In my head I was thinking "since when does a few mean 75?" I thought "some" meant 5-6...you know, so her little pincher fingers could develop their fine motor skills by picking up one dainty cheerio at a time, and so she could have just enough to hold her over before dinner.
If you put a million(okay, I'm slightly exaggerating) Cheerios in front of a hungry baby, what do you think she will do with them...That's right, start stuffing her little fists straight into her mouth like a little chipmunk gathering acorns. Check out those little balled fists in the above picture, it's like she couldn't get them in there fast enough.
Then I asked Scotty in my loving wife voice "hey sweetie, why did you have to put so many Cheerios on her tray...?" He gave the perfect manly reply: "because then it keeps her busy longer" DUH- what was I thinking, you are a man, and men solve problems. Case Closed.
So anyway, I got a good laugh out of it...and now I just know for next time I need to specify "5 or 6" Cheerios on the tray not "some".
p.s. This wasn't meant to be a "man" bashing post... just a "men are different than women" post

Looks like she is having a great time!! After 33 years of wedded bliss I am still amazed at some of the differences.
I can totally see this discussion in my head. Bianca is getting more hair, she looks so cute. I know its a long time coming but we finally got a high chair, I love it!! much better than the bumbo.
I love the Italian Job's quote about when people say they are "FINE". It really means Freaked out, Insecure, Nerotic, and Emotional. Travis is learning that this is what I really mean when I am FINE.
Aren't we glad our hubby's really tell us how they feel. It would be such a pain!
That is funny. She is a sweet little girl and I'm sure she enjoyed the extra Cheerios.
that's so funny! I was laughing out loud when I was reading this post, and Bob asked, "whats so funny?" So we both enjoyed this together. Mostly because Bob does the same thing. :)
Ha Ha! I love it! That Bianca is adorable!!
Too true. When I get together with girls, a lot of what we talk about is the guys and why they do the silly things they do-in a non-bashing way, of course. That is such a perfect example too. It looks like she was trying to eat as many as she could before you noticed. So cute.
I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to tell my husband to listen and stop trying to fix all my problems. It's kinda funny to see just how different men and women are.
Ha! I can definitely relate, and yes, not in a husband-bashing fashion. But the differences are real!
Oh my goodness! JILL!! Im so happy I found you! I have been trying to remember your last name for weeks now and it just dawned on me...so I had to google you!
Your kids are adorable!! Put me on your side bar and keep in touch!!
So funny! I can totally relate. I've learned that if I want the dishes done and the counters cleaned I need to ask for both. If I specify just one, only one gets done.
