You know you have too many couch cushions...

...When they line up from the front of the house, all the way to the back of the house.

Er, wait a minute, maybe that means your house is too small. I haven't decided yet.

Most winter days around here are dark, soggy, and drizzley {yeah, that's a word}.  I usually don't feel like taking three little kiddos anywhere so we spend a lot of time at home.  And when you spend a lot of time around the house, your playtime needs to get creative.  So if you have a couch with 11 cushions, it only makes sense to use them for some mean fort building.  I think we make atleast one fort a day around here.

This time, after the fort fell apart, Jack thought all the cushions needed to be in a line to make a road.  I never argue with an idea I KNOW is going to keep these two occupied for an extra hour {I know, call me crazy}.  They ran back and forth along this road ALL afternoon.

And Laney was thoroughly entertained watching the two monkeys playing {at a safe distance of course, Nana}.

Everybody wins!

Every few minutes Jack has to check in with Baby D just to make sure she's watchin' the action...

Happy fort building/road making everyone!

Oh, and I'd like to know...what do you all do to entertain your little ones in these gross winter months?

Couch cushions make the best 'toys'! Jack and Bianca look like they are have a grand time. Try putting a blanket over a card table. That should be good for an hour or two. Miss you!

I got "the Wiggle & Giggle Busy Book" which is a collection of some lame, some decent ideas. It's divided into Water, Indoor, Outdoor. There are things like dry pasta crafts, hula hoop games, and all different short but creative activities to fill up some time.

You had no idea what a great investment that couch was going to be!

Clay does that only with the pillows on our bed. Yeah I'm sleeping with 6 pillows these days, crazy I know.

They look like they are having a ball with the cushions. Winters are hard to keep these little ones entertained at home. Lets get our husbands to get jobs where it is warm all year round, we could be neighbors.

So fun. I remember doing stuff like that when I was a kid. We use to build tunnels out of our couch cushions and blankets. I don't think Delaney could get any cuter than she already is.

Looks like a party!

I hear you, winter is the worst for little kids. I need some fresh ideas too. Lately my kids have been emptying ever toy out of every basket and hoarding them in little nooks around the house. It keeps them busy but is a pain to clean up!

Our couch looks the same EVERYDAY!!!! We do a lot of block building, fort building, visiting Grant at the grocery store...that sort of type thing. These winter months are brutal with active toddlers, and I can only handle so much t.v. or movies before I feel like I am going to go crazy!
