hair today, gone tomorrow

I have to tell a story, because these pictures definitely need some explaining.

I suppose this is a week for me to learn lessons. The two I learned last night were:
- Read directions BEFORE operating electric equipment
- Always double check what you are doing before you make any dramatic changes in ones appearance.

Lat night I bought some clippers to cut the boys hair, I have been cutting Scott's hair with some borrowed clippers and thought it would be a good investment. I decided to try out my new toy on Jack. I was fiddling around with all the attachments and amidst my excitement I forgot that I had taken off the clipper attachment and just the bare blade was exposed. I proceeded to take a massive chunk out of the golden locks of jacks luscious hair. lesson #1 learned..always double check. the damage was bad enough that I couldn't even buzz it...we had to shave him. bald. like not-a-hair-left-on-the-kids-head bald. No problem I thought, until I learned lesson #2 about one minute later. Always read directions. I neglected to read that the clippers needed to be charged for no less than three hours before using them. About one minute into shaving his head, the clippers die and this is what I was left with...

My very own Benjamin Button! I guess we will know what Jack will be looking like in his geriatric years. Scott walked in from work at this point and had a panic attack. You can also notice jacks somber face, I didn't get many smiles from that little guy last night.

BUT, no worries, we let the clippers charge and now we have a FULLY bald two year old. (insert sigh of relief)

And now he is ALL smiles!

Jill the same thing happened to me last month...except it wasn't Kaden it was on Jeremy. It was pretty bad! I totally sympathize with you, but he looks cute bald!

Oh my goodness!! I even went to hair school and don't even have any good stories like that to tell. Well, maybe a few....
But seriously, I probably had nightmares about doing something like that while I was in hair school.

That is hilarious! Maybe lesson number three should be to start on the sides/back. Good thing you Jack was your first client! Thanks for a good laugh.

Oh yeah. Laughing here too. I love that you started on top, so that you would end up with that. Although, starting on the sides would've ended up in a delightful mullet. But I suppose he has kinda the opposite.

Jill, I laughed SO HARD, tears were falling. His hair will grow back in no time, it sure is funny though! GIve him a big squeeze from Auntie,

I could not stop laughing! That is hilarious! Make sure you save those pictures for the rest of time! That way any time you need a laugh you can pull them out :-) He still looks super cute, even if he's bald.

Oh that is hilarious Jill! I can't stop laughing. Good thing you documented this!

That is soooo funny! Well, at least we know he will still be cute if he has that same hair style when he is older. (Let's hope that he chooses something a little different, but you never know.)

Did you cry at the time or did you think it was just funny the whole time? This sounds like something I would maybe shed a few tears about at first and then think it was hilarious after some time passed.

Thanks for making me laugh!

HA HA HA HA HA HA Oh my gosh that is too funny. Unfortunately I was at school when I saw this and was listening to a kid play a song on a recorder. I laughed out loud and she felt bad.

I'm speechless--but I did have a good laugh.
p.s. people go to school for a whole year to learn how to cut hair!!
But Jack is a doll with or without hair!

Oh Jill, I love your blog! I just died laughing when I read and saw the pictures of Jack. Love it, so funny!! He's sure a cute kid, Bob now thinks that once we have boys we should always shave their heads so they can look as cute as Jack.

Jill... this is Kaytie's sister.. she forwarded this to me. It is one of the funniest blog post I have ever seen. HE is such a cute little guy. I attempted to do my husbands hair once and needless to say he had to pretty much shave his head too. Good Luck with the future hair cuts. : )

I'm sorry Jackson, but I laughed very, very hard at the Mid-way hair cut..
He is beautiful bald though !!
I've done that too but I always start in the back, so it was easier to fix...
Don't give up... and don't let Bianca near scissors.... Denise did a similar number with her bangs, and it couldn't be fixed. Just had to grow out.

That is too funny! Yeah I have done the same thing to Travis but just to his sideburns. He wasn't too happy with me when that happened.

Jill, your kids are adorable! At least you know now that Jack will even be a looker in his old age. I've done the same to my husband. He wasn't so forgiving. At least your little boy won't remember when he's older. It still haunts me to this day.

We are going to Mexico. The first time out of the country for me. I am so excited!

Jill I loved the pictures! I've wanted to try to cut Adam's hair to save a little money, but I am afraid I would do something like that to him! If I ever try I will remember the two lessons you learned. Thanks!

Ha! That is so hilarious, and also sad, but the pictures are worth it!
